Notes: When the 17-pounder proved its value as a towed anti-tank weapon, it was decided to mount it on a Valentine chassis to create a tank destroyer as an interim design. Because of the small size of the Valentine chassis, the 17-pounder was mounted facing backwards, which proved to be a bonus in "shoot-and-scoot" operations. A fairly effective design that saw action into the 1950's.
